Code of Conduct

All staff, players, spectators, customers and visitors are expected to conduct themselves in a way that ensures all participants, customers, spectators and staff enjoy themselves as much as possible. It’s all about fun for everyone.

The following are not tolerated:

  • Foul or Abusive Language – derogatory, abusive, or foul language will not be tolerated at Excelsior.

  • Drugs or Alcohol – in or out of your person. Anyone caught with, consuming, or under the influence of illegal drugs at an Excelsior event, including parking lots or other venues.

  • Smoking or Vaping at Excelsior. You may be asked to leave without warning for vaping inside the store or within 10 feet of the entrance.

  • Weapons – Excelsior prohibits all concealed or visible weapons by all persons other than law enforcement officers.

  • Bullying – including hazing, discriminatory or derogatory language, comments or activities will not be tolerated at any level.

  • Theft ‐ of any property is not tolerated and will result in a minimum of a 30 day banning and a report to local law enforcement and sanctioning body for all events.

  • Poor Personal Hygiene – If you haven’t taken a shower or washed your clothes in a while we may ask you to leave and do so.

  • Cameras – We film and photograph many of our events. You do not have an expectation of privacy while participating in organized play, and agree that pictures of you may be posted to our social media pages, used to in loss-prevention programs and training, in advertising, etc.

  • Selling, Soliciting or promoting other businesses without permission – conducting business or setting up off site deals is strictly prohibited. While we encourage an active trade community, the exchange of cash, or setting up off site or online cash transactions will result in expulsion from events without prizes and/or denial of admission to future events and facilities. There is a zero tolerance of violations of this policy and covertly circumventing this policy via online transactions or ‘taking it out to the parking lot’ will result in severe sanctions up to and including lifetime bans from all Excelsior events.

We are aware that some of our fans have had negative experiences in the community. Excelsior does not stand for any racist, sexist, or otherwise bigoted behavior. We care about providing a healthy and competitive gaming scene for everyone. If we see or hear any abuse, the offending player will be reprimanded, and, if necessary, expelled from our venue for an indefinite duration.

Excelsior reserves the right to ask anyone to leave at any time without compensation or prizes and may at our sole discretion prohibit you from future events should you violate any portion the Excelsior Code of Conduct. All violations resulting in a game loss or more serious penalties or actions will be reported to the manufacturer and sanctioning body for any event that the violator is participating in.

Excelsior reserves the right to search any backpacks, bags, and person entering our facility at any time. By entering Excelsior you agree to abide by this code of conduct.  We reserve the right to change, alter or modify the Excelsior Code of Conduct at any time for any reason.

To report an incident please go to the front desk and notify anyone working there or contact the event staff. If a person engages in harassing behavior, Excelsior Comics and Games will take prompt action in any form they deem appropriate, including expulsion from Excelsior with no refund. All guests and staff are subject to our anti-harassment policy and will be held to the same standards and disciplinary action. Anyone can report harassment. If someone’s behavior has made you uncomfortable, or if you witness the same happening to someone else, you should immediately contact an Excelsior Volunteer/Staff. If necessary, we will contact local law enforcement, provide escort, offer a safe place or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to make sure they feel safe in our shop.

With the COVID Pandemic, Excelsior has moved our events online via our Discord Channel. To maintain our community standards the Code of Conduct above still applies to Excelsior’s events and server with the added stipulations:

 

  • Behave in a manner that contributes to the fun and safety of others in the discord.

  • When presenting feedback to either players or staff, be constructive and polite.

  • Never attempt to present yourself as an Excelsior admin or moderator.

  • If you need urgent attention from someone, ping anyone in the Moderators group

  • You participate at your own risk, taking personal responsibility and accountability for your comments, your username and any information provided

  • No spamming or flooding the chat in text or voice channels.

  • Posts intended to "stir the pot" or cause intentional controversy for the purpose of distraction and sowing discord (trolling) will be deleted.

  • No Piracy. Support game creators and publishers, infringing on licensed intellectual properties will result in removal from the server. Do not share links to pirated copies of official materials, third party websites or wikis that link to copyrighted materials, or browser extensions and addons that share copyrighted materials. Doing so will result in a swift expulsion from the server.

  • If you need help post in #assistance and an admin will assist you as soon as they are able.


You must follow Discord’s Terms of Service (https://discord.com/terms). Please keep in mind that violation of our Code of Conduct may result in removal from the server and violations of Discord’s Terms of Service will be forwarded on appropriately.
 

To report an incident that violates our Code of Conduct online, you can speak to the GM or organizer of a game you're playing or to anyone in the Staff or Moderator groups. All guests and staff are subject to our anti-harassment policy and will be held to the same standards and disciplinary action. Anyone can report harassment. We will review the situation as soon as possible and take all necessary action to restore safety for our participants, up to and including contacting law enforcement to ensure the well-being of everyone involved in activities in our spaces, maintaining the privacy of those making reports to the greatest degree possible.
